Dear Smaller Me,
You know this year is going to seem really tough based on the decisions made, but you can’t let that tear you down. You have worked so hard for this and you can’t just throw it all away. Think about all of the days you’ve spent working for this, all of the trophies and medals you’ve won for it. You already know what is about to happen. It is up to you to make the decision, are you going to back down in such a pivotal point and not let Newsome compete in competitions this year, or will you take control and lead your team to victory?
As it stands at this very moment, the team does not have enough people to compete, and the new kids do not know the routine. You know the routine by heart, you have the ability to take control of the situation and bring these guys to competing. You are one of the two longest standing members on the team, and the other one is already commanding another team. All year long, CSM has been saying that you guys do not have a choice but to compete. If you refuse to do this, there will be no one to command these kids, and they will get docked 20 points off the bat for being down one body. You’ve got to do this, you can do this. Everyone has faith in you, and now they’re counting on you to make this possible.
I know this seems stressful, doing the same thing every day, being out of the house from almost 7 a.m. to about 11 p.m. every single day. But you do it for good reason: you’re passionate and responsible. You go to school, go to practice, and then still go to work. To top it all off, you’re doing your homework after that and barely sleeping, let alone eating. It’s a wonder you’re alive, and healthy at that. Believe it or not, these are the times you are going to miss after you graduate… oh right, you wont get to- nevermind. You are going through a lot, but what is one more responsibility, right? I mean, it is what you’ve wanted since you were a freshman anyway. You can do this. I will tell you now: this will not come without its sleepless nights and hardships.
Now… to make the biggest decision you will ever make in your exhibition life, at least in high school.
