Matthew Wendling

Two-Time World Champion Matthew Wendling graduated with honors from Illinois State University and served as a middle school ELA teacher and a drill team coach where his efforts assisted in attaining multiple National Championship titles before leaving the classroom to pursue a position with Glendale Parade Store. As a coach, he has worked closely with programs from the middle school, high school, and collegiate level spanning all four service branches.

Juan Quiroz

Treasurer


Quiroz is currently the assistant coach of a nationally-recognized Army JROTC unit where his guidance and mentorship contributed to a history-making National Championship finish in 2015. Quiroz is currently employed as an IT professional in his district.

Kirsten Pacheco

Founding Member


Upon graduation from a powerhouse NJROTC unit, Pacheco continued her career as the first unarmed competitor in the World Drill Championships. Pacheco served as coach of a Junior Marines unit where her efforts culminated in her middle school cadets attending the National High School Drill Team Championships with distinction. She currently attends the University of Texas from which she will graduate in 2016.

Nick Valenzuela

Drill Team Coach


As the commander of his AFJROTC armed drill team, Valenzuela competed with distinction both at the All-Service Nationals and Air Force Nationals. Upon graduation, Valenzuela went on to compete at the World Drill Championships while serving his alma mater as an assistant coach. Through his efforts, his junior varsity drill team achieved national success competing against varsity units from around the country.

As a high school cadet, Kurec was the commander responsible for her team’s exceptional national-level performance. She began her drill career as a middle school student and is currently a contracted Army ROTC cadet at Pittsburg State University where she continues her involvement in drill as an energetic and personable trainer.

Alex Usseglio

Drill Team Coach


Usseglio is a graduate of a powerhouse AFJROTC unit in San Antonio, Texas where he spent 4 years learning from one of drill’s preeminent instructors. Currently an Army ROTC cadet at the University of Texas San Antonio, Usseglio has also coached several area drill teams in addition to serving as a trainer. He is currently the assistant coach of a consistently excellence AFJROTC unit.

Samuel Gozo

Drill Team Coach


World Champion driller Samuel Gozo is a graduate of a National Championship Marine Corps JROTC unit where he served as the drill team commander. As a graduate of Norwich University and a former member of the Corps of Cadets, Samuel has continued a successful drill career as both a competitor and sought-after clinician. He is also a certified physical trainer and certified life coach.

Mr. Chris Haley is a World Championship-winning driller and seasoned trainer with many years of experience working with JROTC cadets. He is a graduate of an award-winning Air Force JROTC program where he spent four years as a member of the Armed Drill Team competing with distinction at a national level.

Michael Renn

Drill Team Coach


Currently the most decorated competitor in the history of the event, Michael Renn is a five-time World Champion in solo and tandem drill. In addition to his impressive body of work as a professional driller, Michael has also been instrumental in the development of multiple Midwestern drill teams. Currently, Renn is a firefighter for the City of Louisville, KY.

Brianna Kalasinski

Drill Team Coach


Brianna Kalasinski relocated cross-country to drill as part of a powerhouse NJROTC unit in South Texas halfway through her high school career. After graduation, Kalasinski immediately enrolled at Texas A&M University where she is seeking a commission in the United States Navy in addition to her responsibilities as a drill trainer.

Sandra Sanchez

Drill Team Coach


Ms. Sandra Sanchez spent four years as an NJROTC at a highly competitive program in San Antonio, Texas where she eventually served as the unit’s unarmed drill team commander. She joins Team DTD having spent 4 years learning directly from lead unarmed trainer Kirsten Pacheco and in that time, developed a teaching and command presence that will serve her well as she continues to teach and grow drillers.

Ariana Southall

Drill Team Coach


Ms. Ariana Southall spent four years as an active member of a nationally prominent AFJROTC unit in her native Georgia where she graduated as the corps commander. During her tenure on the unarmed drill team, Southall served as the team’s commander. Southall was mentored by her former coach, Ms. Natalie Waters, and by lead unarmed trainer Kirsten Pacheco. She hopes to pass along the skills and abilities she has honed as a member of Team DTD.

MSG Edford Luckey is the former coach of a nationally dominant color guard program. During his time as an Army Instructor, MSG Luckey’s color guard teams set the standard for excellence in national-level competition culminating in numerous championship titles. There is no one more knowledgeable in the coaching and creation of outstanding color guard units.

Color Guard Specialist


As a 2008 graduate of a National Championship-caliber Army JROTC program near San Antonio, Texas, Emily holds the unique distinction of participating 3 National Champion color guard guard units both as team captain and color guard commander. As a former student of MSG Luckey, she assists in color guard training functions where her experience and ability is a huge asset to the cadets she trains. Emily is also a certified Crossfit and Olympic Weight Lifting instructor.

Yvonne Sisneros, a New Mexico native, joins Team DTD with an impressive resume both as a cadet commander where she led her small-town AFJROTC unit to national-level events and also as a current drill team coach for her alma mater.

Fong Thao

Drill Team Coach


Senior Airman Fong Thao, currently stationed in Las Vegas, NV, is a California native where he grew a love for drill as an AFJROTC cadet. As a senior in high school, Thao raised money to attend the National High School Drill Team Championships as a solo competitor. Now serving our country in the Air Force, Thao contributes hugely to the developing drill community in the greater Las Vegas area serving as a judge, a coach, and a mentor throughout the area.

Noah Calvert joins Drill-Team Dynamics after spending four years with a strong Marine Corps JROTC in New Mexico. He has competed with distinction both as a drill team member and as a successful individual driller. Noah currently attends college and assists area programs and drillers..

Keanu Cruz spent 4 years as a member of a nationally renowned Naval JROTC program. During his first two years, Cruz was instrumental in attaining excellence at both state and national levels of competition. He then spent 2 years as the commander of his armed drill team before graduating and pursing a career as a member of the United States Coast Guard.

Alejandro Paulino

Drill Team Coach


Alejandro Paulino is a native of Las Vegas, NV where he was first introduced to drill as an Air Force JROTC cadet. Now a Sergeant in the United States Army National Guard, Paulino is an active coach and competitor in the Las Vegas area as well as a sponsored drill athlete with For the Art Drill Clothing. Paulino, alongside his tandem partner, Fong Thao, consistently serve as mentors to cadets in their area, dedicating time to assist a new generation of drillers in honing their craft.

Marvin Ramos joins Team DTD as a professional driller and drill team coach in his hometown of Las Vegas, NV. In addition to his mentorship responsibilities with the area’s Devil Pup program, Ramos serves as a drill coach for his alma mater’s Air Force JROTC program. In 2017, Ramos earned the distinction of winning a World Championship in exhibition drill as a member of the Sin City Drillers from Las Vegas, NV.

Chris Sanchez, a Las Vegas native, currently serves our country as a United States Marine. Additionally, he is an active member of his local drill community where he volunteers his time as a coach for a powerhouse Navy JROTC unit. He is also a world-class competitor and a World Championship-winning member of the Sin City Drillers from Las Vegas, NV.

Mr. Juan Medrano joins Team DTD after 4 years of participation with his highly competitive NJROTC unit in San Antonio, Texas where his coaches included Matthew Wendling and Nick Valenzuela. During his final year, Medrano served as both the armed drill team commander and the battalion commander of his unit, developing skills that will assist in him leading others down a similar path of success.

Wilneth Vazquez spent several years as a member of her highly successful AFJROTC unarmed drill team competing in all phases of competition. Ms. Vazquez is currently working towards her commission as an officer in the United States Air Force and attends the University of Texas San Antonio.

Jenessy is a 2012 graduate of a powerhouse Army JROTC program located near San Antonio, TX. During her tenure as a cadet, Jasso had the honor of participating on 3 National Championship-winning color guard units where she studied under MSG Edford Luckey. She continues to assist units in her area while also enrolled as a college student in San Antonio.

Zach Kennington

Armed Exhibition Specialist


After attending the Nationals Drill Camp as a Marine Corps JROTC cadet, Kennington went on to form the first competitive drill unit at his school’s brand new program. Upon graduation, Kennington immediately began competing as a soloist at the World Drill Championships. Currently completing an math education degree, Kennington serves as an exhibition drill consultant.

After graduating a National Champion from a powerhouse NJROTC program, Flatt went on to enlist as a Master at Arms in the United States Navy where he is currently serving in Guam. During his free time, Flatt continues to hone his skills as a driller and coach assisting programs in Guam.

A graduate of Texas A&M University, Justin Delaurier spent years honing his craft first as a high school cadet and later as a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Fish Drill Team before attaining the title of World Champion in solo exhibition drill. Currently, a 1LT, Delaurier is serving his country as a commissioned officer in the United States Army.

Media Specialist


Julia Roberts is a current Air Force ROTC cadet enrolled at Oklahoma Christian University (which shares a detachment with the University of Oklahoma.) As a graduate of an AFJROTC program, Roberts developed a passion and talent for photography, videography, and media editing, often using her skill to give back to her alma mater. We are excited to have her join the DTD team!
