Regulation Drill Sequence Update 11/15/22

Because the Army National Drill Team Championships and the National High School Drill Team Championships differ in the order of the “Mark Time, MARCH” and “Change Step, MARCH” commands, the Host has authorized the following:

In ARMED REGULATION drill, commands 27 (“Mark Time”) and 28 (“Change Step”) may be given in ANY ORDER. They will be scored as presented but BOTH commands must be performed back-to-back following command 26 (“Column Left March”) and before command 28a (“Forward March”). No “Incorrect Command” penalty will be assessed for commanding “Change Step, MARCH” BEFORE “Mark Time, MARCH.”

In UNARMED REGULATION drill, commands 29 (“Mark Time”) and 30 (“Change Step”) may be given in ANY ORDER. They will be scored as presented but BOTH commands must be performed back-to-back following command 28 (“Column Left March”) and before command 30a (“PLATOON/FLIGHT HALT”). No “Incorrect Command” penalty will be assessed for commanding “Change Step, MARCH” BEFORE “Mark Time, MARCH.”

Held in the beautiful city of Mansfield, TX, this competition is designed to be an outstanding competitive and educational experience for units of all experience levels!
Teams from around the area attend to test their skills in competitive events such as Unarmed Regulation Drill, Unarmed Exhibition Drill, Unarmed Inspection, Armed Regulation Drill, Armed Exhibition Drill, Armed Inspection, multiple Color Guard divisions (including an “Open Level” event), as well as Armed Solo & Tandem events.
Units earn points from their performance in each event and attempt to earn the highest cumulative point totals in accordance with the grading scale set forth by the meet’s Letter of Instruction (“LOI”) and Standard Operating Procedures (“SOP”) in order to determine top finishes.
Trophies will be awarded to top finishers in each event as well as top overall team finishers across all events.
Attendees should expect to see their cadets participating in this competition in the pre-designated “drill areas” located around the main buildings of the Mansfield field house. These areas will be labeled and marked clearly with cones. Be sure to visit the check-in table to find out where your cadet may be competing!
